......VACANT .....
The ECW replay. Starting with the NWA tournament on August 27, 1994, when Extreme Championship Wrestling was born, all major events, PPV's, and title matches from Hardcore TV and ECW on TNN will be replayed as they were in reality. For title matches, who ever holds the belt in my replay will face the challenger that the real champ faced. My results wil be posted along with the actual results from the event for comparison. The project will conclude on January 13, 2001, which was ECW's final show in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

The most interesting aspect of this for me will be how the title lineage runs. Knowing how influencial many of the wrestlers were in ECW, this is a situation where some of those guys may never even hold a title. Time will tell.

LATEST HEADLINES: July/August 1997

Very little in the way of title changes the last two months, go figure.  The ECW World Heavyweight Championship changed hands just once, putting the title around the waist of former champ Shane Douglas, making Douglas a three-time world title holder when he defeated Chris Candido.

The TV title moved around a bit.  After winning the world title, Shane Douglas lost the TV title to Al Snow, Snow in turn dropped the strap tp Chris Candido after two defenses.

Lastly, the titles that seems to move the most only made three changes.  The ECW world tag team titles moved from Sandman/Tommy Dreamer to The Eliminators to Balls Mahoney/Axl Rotten, to New Jack/Kronus.  The Eliminators last run made them 12 time tag team title holders.

The major events coming up over the next two months are: The Terry Funk Wrestlefest (not an ECW event, but a good number of ECW matches on the card), As Good As It Gets, and Fright Night.

May/June 1997

Douglas is back!  All is right with the ECW TV title once again. Shane Douglas regained the belt in early May from Gary Wolfe (after Wolfe won it from Stevie Richards) and has defended it successfully eight times.  He did lose two matches but retained the title since those were both by countout.  The Franchise is due for a world title shot in July at Heatwave so we'll see if he can become a two belt holder if he holds onto the TV title in the meantime.

OK so...let's tally up the tag team title changes again this past two months: seven changes between five teams.  A surprise in this mix was the team of JC Ice and Wolfie D (PG-13) who won the belts from The Eliminators and only made one successful defense, but that match was a record setter for ECW, going for 100 minutes against D-Von and Big Dick Dudley with a total of nearly 1400 points between the two teams.

The ECW World Heavyweight Championship now sits around the waist of Chris Candido.  That belt moved around a bit too, making seven changes between six wrestlers. Candido is a first time world title holder as was Stevie Richards, who he won the belt from.

Looking forward, we've got Heatwave coming up in July, Born to be Wired and Hardcore Heaven in August, as well a bunch of usual house show title matches.

March/April 1997

Well, all good thing must come to and end.  Shane Douglas lost the ECW TV title to Anthony Durante at the Barely Legal event so his long dominant reign is over for now.  The loss ends a 21 match winning streak that began in August of 1996 for The Franchise, which was a TV title win and 20 defenses. I like seeing a dominant champ, and the TV belt has already changed hands again in the four shows that followed BL, so I'm hoping someone can get that belt and hold it for a stretch again.

OK, so speaking of stable titles, the tag team title remains a bouncing ball in the promortion.  The past two moths saw nine title changes among six teams.  I really thought when The Dudley Boys won the belts that they'd be the team to hold them for a while but I was worng, althought hey did manage to hold them three times in just two months.

The World title saw just three holders this go-around.  Nova won the strap from Louie Spicolli early in March and made six defenses before being beat by Terry Funk at Barely Legal.  Funk is a good one to hold that belt, lets hope he holds it for a long time.

January/February 1997

The year kicked off with four big shows: House Party, Winter Blowout, Crossing the Line Again, and two nights of Cyberslam '97.  Mike Awesome, Lance Storm, Chris Chetti are new faces in the promotion. Tracy Smothers, Tommy Rich and Ricky Morton made appearances also and may stick around for a bit.

As usual, the tag team belts bounced around quite a bit, changing hands a total of seven times in two months between six teams.  The world title saw four swaps between three wrestlers, with Louie Spicolli becoming a first time champ on the final show of February. The TV title stayed put with Shane Douglas, but that belt was only defended twice durign the same time period.

Hostile City Showdown is the next big show on March 15.

November/December 1996

As usual there was alot of title movement the past two months. The ECW world title changes hands five times between three guys. 2 Cold Scorpio (who in reality was off to WWE by this point) dropped the strap to Raven, Sandman regained the belt, beating Raven in his third defense. Mikey Whipwreck became a two-time world champ by beating Sandman in his next match, Sandman won the next contest, and in the last world title match of the year, Raven regained the title again...whew!

The tag team belts moved a few times as well, changing hand four times. After what was probably the longest tag team title run so far, Bubba Ray Dudley and Anthony Durante saw their run come to an end at a house show at the start of November. The Eliminators took the straps and held on for entire month, making three defenses before losing to the Gangstas in mid-December. Rob Van Dam & Sabu took those belts a few days later and lost in the final show of '96 to the Eliminators, who are now seven time tag team title holders.

As far as the TV title goes, Shane Douglas ain't letting that thing go. The champ made seven successful defenses and heads into 1997 the most dominant wrestler in the promotion.

The first major event of '97 will be House Party on January 11. Of course, there's plenty of house show action to be had as well.

1996 Quick Year in Review: World title changes: 16 changes between 8 wrestlers, TV title: 11 changes between 10 wrestlers, tag team titles: 23 changes between 11 teams. Longest title run: Bubba Ray Dudley/Anthony Durante with the tag team belts for 11 successful defenses. Major events: 16.

September/October 1996

We held three major events the past two months: Unlucky Lottery, Ultimate Jeopardy, and High Incident. Lots of great matches and some new faces making their way in.

The world title made some moves, but the TV and tag team belts stayed put. The ECW World Heavyweight Championship changed hands three times during September/October after Sandman won the belt in mid-August. Raven took the strap at a house show in Middletown, NY and dropped it to Stevie Richards in a cage match in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Richards beat the Sandman in his first defense, but 2 Cold Scorpio became a two-time champ with a win at High Incident. Sandman is set to be his first defense in November.

The ECW World TV and Tag Team titles both stayed put with both champs making impressive performances in the past two months. Reigning TV champ Shane Douglas knocked off nine successful defenses, improving his record in the promotion to an amazing 54 wins against just 5 defeats. The tag team champs, Bubba Ray Dudley and Anthony Durante kept a firm hold on their belts as well. The pair was on the winnig side in seven title matches and has now made 11 successful defenses which is the best the tag team division has seen yet.

Coming up in November/December we'll be holding the November To Remember show on November 16, Holiday Hell will be on December 7, as well as a good number of house shows along the way.

July/August 1996

The Sandman Regain the World Title: The Sandman became a five-time world title holder on August 17, defeating Terry Gordy at The Sportsfest in Staten Island, NY. Gordy had snagged the belt from 2 Cold Scorpio back in late June and made three successful defenses, two of those being against Sandman, but the third found Gordy on the receiving end of a singapore cane smash that ended his title reign.

Douglas loses, then regains TV title: Former world champion and TV title holder Shane Douglas lost, then won back the world TV title. After a successful defence in a four-way dance at Heat Wave, Bubba Ray Dudley took the title two weeks later at a house show in Jim Thorpe, PA. Dudley would drop the titloe to Chris Jericho in his first defense, Jericho would alos lose his first defense to Anthony Durante (Pitbull 2), and Durnte would fail in his first defense to Douglas, who is now a four time title holder.

Tag Team Titles Bounce Around: The ECW world tag team titles can't stay in one place either. The belts moved quickly from the Bruise Brothers, to the Gangstas, to the Eliminators, to Sabu and Mikey Whipwreck, back to the Eliminators, all losing the titles in the first defense. July ended with Bubba Ray Dudley and Anthony Durante winning the titles and making four successful defenses in August.

The past two months also saw the promotion hold three major events: Heat Wave, The Doctor Is In, and Natural Born Killaz. The "Unlucky Lottery" is set to be the first September event with nine matches scheduled.

Nakagawa WINS TV Title!

FMWs "Hitman" is the new ECW World TV Champion. Nakagawa earned his title shot with a huge upset over Taz at the Holiday Hell event, and the next night he improved his ECW record to 2-0 by pinning TV title holder Mikey Whipwreck in 13 minutes at the organizations final show of 1995 in Reading,PA. Time will tell if the FMW style will hold up at the extreme championship level, but hes looking good heading into 1996.

HOLIDAY HELL '95

December 29, 1995 - Lost Battallion Hall, Queens, NY

1)       Koji Nakagawa PIN Taz (w/Bill Alfonso)

Nakagawa scored a huge upset in the events opener.  Taz looked like he was off his game, and the visiting FMW superstar took advantage, never letting his opponent get a hold of him and avoiding those dreaded suplex moves at all costs.  At the 22 minute mark, Nakagawa scored with a powerbomb and followed up with a back body drop, then wrapped up the match with the pinfall.

(Real event result: Taz won by pinfall)

2)       Hack Meyers PIN J.T. Smith

Meyers usual brawling style wins out as Smith falls short once again.  J.T. had a shot but while attempting to make a cover for the win, was headbutted by Meyers who flipped him over and got the pin himself.

(Real event result: Meyers won by pinfall)

3)       ECW World TV Title: Mikey Whipwreck PIN Dean Malenko [C]

Mikey hasn’t won a whole lot around here, but when he does, it counts.  Despite Malenko having control over the majority of the match, a quick arm drag followed with a whippersnapper stunned the defending champ long enough for Whipwreck to get the oin and the TV title at 19 minutes.

(Real event result: 2 Cold Scorpio was the defending champion, Whipwreck won by pinfall)

4)       The Pitbulls (w/Francine) PIN The Eliminators (w/Jason Knight)

A great back and forth match up taking place both in and outside the ring, as is customary for these teams.  Unfortunately for the Eliminators, they couldn’t repeat their win over the Pitbulls from a few weeks ago, ands drop this one at 29 minutes when PB2 Gary Wolfe hits Saturn with a vertical suplex.  Kronus would jump in to save Saturn from getting pinned but a second suplex on Saturn got him pinned.

(Real event result: The Eliminators won by pinfall)

5)       Raven (w/Beulah) PIN Tommy Dreamer – winner gets world title shot later in the show

Dreamer has four pin attempts in this 18 minute battle, but couldn’t close the deal.  Raven wins with a turnbuckle ram that busted Dreamer open and puts I down and out.

(Real event result: Raven won by pinfall)

6)       El Puerto Reqeuno PIN Bruiser Mastino

EPR took control early, but tired about half way through.  Mastino laid some heavy shots in the latter half, but EPR got a second wind, and scores with a missile dropkick off the top turnbuckle and wrapped up Masrino for the pin after a 62 minutes contest.

(Real event result: Mastino won by pinfall)

7)       Bubba Ray Dudley (w/Big Dick Dudley) PIN The Blue Meanie

Dudley makes quick work of Meanie, a side slam at just seven minutes gets him the win.

(Real event result: Dudley won by pinfall)

8)       ECW World Heavyweight Championship: The Sandman [C] PIN Raven

The challenger was fired up after his early victory, and came out strong at the start but tired quickly.  About fifteen minutes in, Sandman gained control and at 44 minutes, hit a piledriver and a stomp for good measure to successfully defend his title.

(Real event result: Sandman won by pinfall)

9)       ECW World Tag Team Titles: Public Enemy PIN The Gangstas [C]

The Gangstas winning ways came to an end tonight, as Public Enemy took home the title belts once again.  The defending champions were having a pretty easy time in this one, especially once the weapons came out, so it was quite a surprise to everyone when Rocco Rock managed to get Mustafa on a table and land with a senton.  Johnny Grunge distracted New Jack long enough to keep hi from breaking the pin, which was scored at 28 minutes.

(Real event result: The Gangstas won by pin, but neither held the TT titles)

10)  Extreme Death Match: Sabu PIN Cactus Jack

You can call this an extreme death match but it was just another day at the office for these two.  Both guys were swelled up and bleeding, both took heavy falls, but it was something as simple as a hip toss onto a pile of thumbtacks that made Sabu’s ECW return successful.  He gets the pin at 28 minutes.

(Real event result: Sabu won by pinfall)

DECEMBER TO DISMEMBER

December 9, 1995 – ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

1)       Dances with Dudley/Bubba Ray Dudley (w/Big Dick Dudley) PIN Bad Breed

This pair of Dudleys worked well together, and defeated the reteaming Bad Breed at 24 minutes, with DW landing a dropkick and pin on Ian Rotten.

(Real event result: The Dudleys won by pinfall)

2)       Taz (w/Bill Alfonso) PIN El Puerto Requeno

Taz had his way with EPR for 31 minutes, ending at all with a tiger suplex.

(Real event result: Taz won by submission)

3)       Hack Meyers PIN Bruiser Mastino

Meyers and Mastino battle in out for 28 minutes, Meyers gets Mastino down with a side headlock takeover followed by two stomps and a pin)

(Real event result: Meyers won by pinfall)

4)       The Eliminators PIN The Pitbulls

A short one here, but the Eliminators get payback on the Pitbull who beat them at November to Remember.  Kronus took a swinging neck breaker just one minute in and was nearly pinned right away, only to wrap up Gary Wolfe and nearly pin him a minute later.  Saturn came in at the five-minute mark and took control of the match.  At 11 minutes, Saturn hits a Death Valley driver and get the pin victory.

(Real event result: The Eliminators won by pinfall)

5)       Raven PIN Tommy Dreamer

This 28 minute contest saw Dreamer winning the whole way through, only to fall victim to a discus clothesline and get pinned.

(Real event result: Raven won by TKO)

6)       The Broad Street Bully PIN J.T. Smith

The Bully gets another home field victory, stopping Smith at 37 minutes with a shoulder block that put Smith down then followed with an elbow drop and the pin.

(Real event results: Smith won by pinfall)

7)       ECW World Heavyweight Championship *Three Way Dance: The Sandman [C]PIN Steve Austin & PIN Mikey Whipwreck

Damn.  I really, really wanted to see Austin win this one, but it wasn’t meant to be.  Steve-O-Mania dies at 13 minutes after the defending champ score with a DDT.  Whipwreck puts on a good challenge for the next nine minutes, but takes a Russian leg sweep at 22 minutes and gets pinned.

(Real event result: Whipwreck was the defending champ and Sandman beat both him and Austin by pin to win the title)

8)       The Heavenly Bodies PIN Public Enemy

Tom Prichard and Jimmy Del Ray made a successful ECW debut. As it took them just 10 minutes to dispatch the former tag team champs.  Prichard hits Rocco Rock with a pile driver and pins him while Del Ray and Grunge slug it out outside the ring.

(Real event result: Public Enemy won by pinfall)

9)       Ultimate Jeopardy Steel Cage Handicap Match: Public Enemy, The Pitbulls, Tommy Dreamer PIN The Heavenly Bodies, The Eliminators, Raven, Stevie Richards

This match had different stipulations for the guy who got pinned and poor Stevie was on the receiving end of that.  There was so much going on in this match, with all 11 men in the ring that it was hard to see anything clearly.  What you could see, however, was every guy taking his turn bouncing off the cage or the few times Richards was pulled down while trying to climb out.  Dreamer somehow got hold of a set of brass knuckles and clocked Rochards, drawing blood and basically putting him out of commission.  He chased Stevie around the ring for bit, before finally getting hold of him and getting the win for his team at 19 minutes, getting payback as he and his other team members all suffered losses earlier on the card.  The stipulation for Richards getting pinned was that he had to spend five minutes in the cage alone with his five opponents.  He took a few slams and a few DDTS but walked out on his own when the five minutes was complete.

(Real event result: Dreamer pinned Richards)

NOVEMBER 2 REMEMBER

November 18, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Devious Don E. Allen PIN The Broad Street Bully - Bully comes up short on his home turf, getting pinned at 23 minutes. unable to get out of Allens inside cradle (real event result: this was ruled a no-contest when Bubba Ray Dudley, who was guest ring announcer, attacked both men before the match began)

Bubba Ray Dudley PIN The Broad Street Bully - no luck for Bully here either, Bubba Ray beat him up for 27 minutes before hitting the Bubba bomb and getting the pin (real event result: the previously mentioned incident resulted in Bubba pinning Bully and getting a win, despite not being part of the match)

Jason Knight PIN Konnan - Knight looked sharp tonight, and after a relatively even 22-minute match, scores with a pair of vertical suplexes to get the pinfall (real event result: Konnan won by pin)

Stevie Richards PIN El Puerto Requeno - Richards dominated this one-sided match, Requeno landed just about nothing on the offensive front, and gets pinned at 18 minutes after a swinging neck breaker followed by a body slam (real event result: Richards won by pin)

The Pitbulls DEF The Eliminators - The former tag team champs pick up a win at 12 minutes, Gary Wolfe nailing Saturn with a back breaker before getting the pin (real event result: Pitbulls won by pin)

Psicosis PIN Rey Mysterio *Mexican Death Match - These two put on a great contest as was expected. The "death match" aspect did not figure into this one much until the end, when Psicosis stunned Rey with a chair shot, and ended things with a tombstone piledriver onto that same chair, pinning Mysterio at 9 minutes (real event result: Mysterio won by pin)

ECW World Tag Team Titles - The Gangstas (C) DEF 2 Cold Scorpio/The Sandman - The new tag team champs continue to remain undefeated in ECW, successfully defending the titles for the second time (and against the same team) winning ion 17 minutes, New Jack landing with a diving headbutt on Scorpio to get the pin (real event result: Public Enemy were the defending champs, and lost by pin to Scorpio and Sandman)

Axl Rotten PIN J.T. Smith - Smith not having much luck these days. He loses in 26 minutes to Rotten, courtesy of a DDT (real event result: Axl won by pin)

Bill Alfonso PIN Todd Gordon - this went on way longer than it should have or needed to. This wrestling match had zero wrestling and nothing of much impact. After 54 minutes...ugh...a "friend" of Alfonso did us all a favor and interfered, allowing Bill to get the pin (real event result: Alfonso won by pin due to outside interference)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship: The Sandman (C) PIN "Steve-O-Mania" Steve Austin - I won't lie, I was hoping that Steve-O-Mania would run wild for a bit in ECW, but it was not meant to be. Though he did give the Sandman a respectable challenge, the defending champ knows his way around and ECW ring better than most. A slingshot face buster at 15 minutes ended Austins ECW title hopes (real event result: Mikey Whipwreck was the defending champion and beat Austin by pin)

Sabu PIN Hack Meyers - Sabu makes a successful return, putting on a 31-minute show before a sling shot leg drop put Meyers down and out (real event result: Sabu won by pin)

Terry Funk/Tommy Dreamer DEF Raven/Cactus Jack - Jack and Funk, Dreamer and Raven bring their feuds to this tag team contest, that was an all out brawl for 24 minutes. Dreamer nails Raven with a DDT, but Cactus jumps in to stop the pin. This didn't help Raven though, who was hit with a second DDT as soon as he tried to stand up. Funk keeps Jack occupied while Dreamer gets the pin (real event result: Funk and Dreamer won by pin)

GANGSTAS PARADISE

September 16, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

The Broad Street Bully PIN Bull Pain - an entertaining 33 minute opener, The Bully beat The Bull; a three piece combo of a hockey stick hit, shoulder wrench, and eye rake got BSB the pin (real event result: Bull Pain won by pin)

Chad Austin/Devious Don E. Allen PIN Dances with Dudley/Dudley Dudley - Austin & Allen were too quick for the Dudleys, it only took 12 minutes for Allen to lock on an inside cradle to pin D.W. (real event result: Dudleys won by pin)

Hack Meyes PIN JT Smith - Meyers defeats Smith again, hitting a piledriver at 18 minutes. Smith was a bit slower this time around, and just couldn't avoid Meyes big shots (real event result: Meyers won by count out)

Jason Knight/The Eliminators DEF Taz/The Steiner Bros. - Taz and The Steiners had control of this one and looked be on their way to a pretty east victory. A triple team effort by Knight and The Eliminators got them the win though, stunning Scott Steiner, with Knight getting the pin while Saturn and Kronus stopped Taz and Rick from saving their teammate at 21 minutes (real event result: team 1 won by pin)

ECW World Tag Team Titles: The Pitbulls (C) DEF Raven/Stevie Richards *double dog collar, best of three falls - This style match was made for the defending champs, and it was evident throughout. Raven and Richards did put up a good fight in the early goings, but the Pitbulls experience with the dog collars made it easier for them to gain advantage. The first fall came at 58 minutes, with Gary Wolfe hitting powerbomb on Raven. The challengers were exhausted at this point, and had very little to offer going into the second part of the match. It only took 21 minutes more, with Wolfe using the collar chain to wrap Richards up in the corner and land some heavy shots putting Stevie down and out. Total time was 79 minutes with The Pitbulls winning two falls to zero (real event result: Pitbulls won, 2 falls to 1)

Rey Mysterio PIN Psicosis - a great match up; fast paced, lots of high spots, evenly contested. Mysterio get the pin after a springboard senton at 17 minutes (real event result: Mysterio won by pin)

2 Cold Scorpio/New Jack/Sandman DEF Public Enemy/Mikey Whipwreck *steel cage match - A good match to wrap up the card. Sandman and Whipwreck both got busted open early on and there was good balance of wrestling and use of the cage. The end came at 26 minutes when Scorpio scored with a 450 splash on Mikey, with New Jack following up with a 187. Jack gets the pin (real event result: team 1 won by pin)

WRESTLEPALOOZA '95

August 5, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

A rare show with no title matches on the card, but some good match ups.

Hack Meyers PIN JT Smith - Meyers brawlibng style won out in this competitve opener. Smith had Meyes reeling with a series of punches, but Hack hits a devastating clothesline and gets the pin at 36 minutes (real event result: Smith won by pin)

The Broad Street Bully PIN Big Val Puccio - Phillys biggest Flyers fan represented well. Puccio was never able to get the big bear hug clamped on and at 19 minutes, the Bully got Big Val in a choke that dazed him enough to get him down and pinned (real event result: Puccio won by DQ)

Big Dick Dudley/Dudley Dudley/Raven/Stevie Richards DEF Cactus Jack/Tommy Dreamer/The Pitbulls - a 41 minute 8-man tag team match that saw very little tagging as is usually the cased here. Gary Wolfe got hit with a snap suplex by Dudley Dudley, he never saw Dudley coming (real event result: team 1 won by pin)

Eddie Guerrero/The Steiner Bros. DEF 2 Cold Scorpio/Cactus Jack/Dean Malenko - This was and entertaining, mostly technical match that was far more controlled than the previous contest. Things were really close throughout with neither team ever gaining a significant advantage. The end came at 21 minutes when Scott Steiner hit a powerslam on Scorpio, followed with a Steinerline and the pin (real event result: team 1 won by pin)

Mikey Whipwreck PIN The Sandman *singapore cane match - Mikey's been on a pretty good streak lately, and this was a pretty big upset considering the cane match is Sandmans specialty. Both guys took some heavy shots with that cane, but Sandman got careless, and while atempting a DDT that probably would have ended the match, Whipwreck was able to counter and with a simple arm drag, get Sandman on the canvas on wrap him up for the pin and did some more caning on The Sandman for good measure (real event result: Mikey won by pin)

The Gangstas DEF Public Enemy *stretcher match - The Gangstas improved to 3-0 in ECW tonight. PE held their own, but still came up short. At 21 minutes, New Jack hit Johnny Grunge with a clothesline, Grunge was immediately scooped up and slammed by Saed, who got the pin and continued to batter Grunge after he was on the stretcher being rolled out of the arena (real event result: The Gangstas won by pin)

Jannetty wins the ECW title!

In another heavyweight title upset, Marty Jannetty defeated Axl Rotten at The Fairgrounds in Orlando, FL to win the ECW world heavyweight championship. Rotten won the strap from Cactus Jack at Heatwave and made one successful defense against Mikey Whipwreck before facing Jannetty, who was making his second appearance as the heavyweight title challenger. The match was only 10 minutes long; Jannetty managed to negate Rottens brawling tactics and hit the rocker-plex before getting the three count. Cactus Jack will face Jannetty in Middletown, NY attempting to regain the crown.

HEAT WAVE

July 15, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Mikey Whipwreck PIN "Stormin'" Mike Norman - This was a great opener to the show; fast paced with most of the action staying inside the ring, lots of high spots and pin attempts between the two. Mikey seems to have finally found his groove here though, and get his second consecutive singles victory after a long hard start without a win. At 23 minutes, he counterd a pin attempt by Norman with a whippersnapper and gets the tree count (real event result: Mikey won by pin)

Raven & Stevie Richards (w/Beulah) DEF Broad Street Bully & "Devious" Don E. Allen - This was a non-title contest for Raven/Richards and it was pretty one sided. Allen and Bully had thier moments but they were few, and a simple body slam from Richards ended the match with Bully getting pinned at 17 minutes (real event result: Allen/Bully won by countout when Beulah and Francine, who was at ringside, get into a catfight, taking Raven & RIchards focus off the match)

Big Val Puccio SUB Hack Meyers - Once again, Meyers falls victim to Big Vals power and the bearhug. This time it took 22 minutes, but just as he did at Hardcore Heaven two weeks ago, Puccio got a hold of Meyers and that was all she wrote (real event result: Meyers won by pin)

The Pitbulls & Tommy Dreamer (w/Luna) DEF Raven & Dudley Dudley & Li'l Snot Dudley - After a short rest, Raven gets back in the ring, and these six engage in an all brawl as expected. Luna's at ringside but somehow avoids getting involved in any of the action. About two thirds of the way through the contest, this actually turns into a legit tag team match. At 27 minutes, Dudley Dudley tags out to Raven after getting clobbered by Anthony Durante (PB#2), but Durante catches Raven with a back heel kick as he's entering the ring, moves in for the cover and gets the pinfall (real event result: The Pitbulls and Dreamer won by pin)

Dean Malenko & 2 Cold Scorpio DEF The Tasmanic & Eddie Guerrero (w/ Paul E.Dangerously) - This was a solid, controlled contest with minimal interference from Dangerously. Scorpio get the pin on Taz at just 14 minutes, when he hits a somersault leg drop afger Taz misses a dropkick (real event result: Malenko & Scorpio won by pin, after originally losing but having the match continued due to interference by Paul E.)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship: Axl Rotten PIN Cactus Jack (C) - No one saw this coming. After a series of losing matches against his brother, Axl gets a new opponent and he made the most of it. Maybe Cactus was still recovering from his match with Sandman two weeks ago, maybe he was just off his game tonight, but he was one step behind Axl all along and the challenger held nothing back. The 30 minute contest came to an end when Cactus took a clothesline outside the ring, followed by a DDT on a steel chair which put his out for the count: Axl Rotten in the ECW Champ! (real event result: Sandman was the defending champ and won by pin)

Steel Cage Match: Stevie Richards PIN Luna - Stevie came out the victor, but took a beating along the way. He got busted open, took a few nut-shots, and was nearly out commission before catapulting Vachon into the cage, just about knocking her out, and getting the pin (real event result: Luna won by submission with the testicular claw)

Steel Cage Match: The Gangstas DEF Public Enemy - The feud continues, and again PE is on the losing end. This 25 minute brawl was all Gangstas. New Jack KO's Rocco Rock with a brass knuckle shot to the jaw and gets the pin at 25 minutes (real event result: The Gangstas won by pin)

HARDCORE HEAVEN

July 1, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

The Pitbulls PIN Dudley Dudley & Li'l Snot Dudley - The Dudleys put up a good enough effort in their ECW debut, but it wasnt enought to overtake the former tag team champs. Pitbull 2, Anthony Durante countered a wild right hand swing by Dudley Dudley with an atomic drop, and wrapped him up for the pin at 15 minutes (real event result: The Dudleys won by pin)

Chad Austin & The Broad Street Bully PIN Dino Sandoff & Devious Don E. Allen - Tony Stetson has taken on a new life in the ring since becoming the Broad Street Bully. He and Austin out worked Sandoff and Allen throughout the match with quick tags and double team moves, wearing down their opponents over the course of the 32 minute match. Bully got Sandoff with a sunset flip and got the win by pinfall (real event result: match ended in a no contest/draw when 911 came to the ring and choke slammed everyone)

Big Val Puccio SUB Hack Meyers - Big Vals size finally paid off. It took just four minutes for him to get Meyers in a bearhug and get the submission win (real event result: Meyers won by pin)

2 Cold Scorpio PIN The Tasmaniac - These two know each other well, which made this to be a pretty even and competitive match up. Taz scored with a T bone suplex (one of many suplexes he hit with during the match), but just as looked like 2 Cold was out, he jumped up and nailed Taz with a superkick as he was turning round. He covered Taz quickly and got the pin at 17 minutes (real event result: Scorpio won by pin)

ECW Tag Team Championship: Raven & Stevie Richards (C) PIN Tommy Dreamer & Luna Vachon - The champs make a successful first defense of the titles in this half-mixed tag match up that saw all four competitors in the ring for most of the match up. Raven and Dreamer spent most of the match brawling with each other, and Luna held her own here as well. A bodyslam followed by a kneedrop by Stevie Richards enabked him to get the pin on Tommy Dreamer at 35 minutes to retain the titles (real event results: Raven and Richards won by pin)

Taipei Death Match: Ian Rotten PIN Axl Rotten: The feud continues, this time both competitors have hands taped and covered in broken glass. As is always the case between these two, the match is an all out fight and both guys are bleeding within seconds with more of the match taking place outside of the ring than inside. At the 28 minute mark, Ian stuns Axl with a right hand punch, and ends the match with a tombstone piledriver onto a steel chair, and gets the pin (real event result: Axl won by pin)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship: Cactus Jack (C) PIN The Sandman (w/Woman): Cactus and Sandman meet again for the world strap and the rules went right out the window (rules are a rarity here). Jack took a good aount of Singapore cane shots from both Sandman and Woman, but gave as good as he took with a series of chair shots and a few can shots of his own. Sandman missed a cane shot and was countered with a double arm DDT that ended the match at 22 minutes (real event result: Sandman was the defending champ and won by pin)

The Gangstas PIN Public Enemy: These two finally get in the ring for an official match, they've been fighting "off the record" since The Gangstas showed up in ECW a few weeks ago. New Jack and Mustafa came in hot and heavy and laid down a beating on PE, who didnt look like they were ready for this at all. New Jack wrapped things up with a frying pan shot to the face of Johnny Grunge and got the pin while Rocco and Mustafa brawled outside the ring (real event result: PE won by pin)

BARBED WIRE, HOODIES, & CHOKE SLAMS

June 17, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

The Broad Street Bully PIN The New Jersey Devil - A good scrap to open the show. There was very little in the way of wrestling, it was pretty much a raw fight with Bully connecting with a punch, an eye rake, and an elbow drop combo that was enough to get him the pinfall win at 31 minutes (real event result: The Broad Street Bully won by pin in 16 seconds)

Mikey Whipwreck PIN Big Val Puccio - Mikey FINALLY wins a singles match! Despite being outweighed by about 400 pounds, Mikey was able to avoid any serious damage. A simple dropkick was enough to take Puccio off his feet leaving him open for the pin at 22 minutes (real event result: Whipwreck won by pin)

The Vampire Warrior PIN Hack Meyers - Warrior put on a good showing in his first big ECW match up. Meyers put up a good fight, but fell victim to an earth shaking powerbomb at 17 minutes and was pinned (real event result: Warrior pinned Meyers)

Tommy Dreamer PIN The Vampire Warrior - This match wasnt scheduled, but took place on the spot when Warrior and his sidekick Stevie Richard confronted Dreamer at ringside regarding Dreamers alliance with Luna Vachon. Both parties dished it out as well as they could take it, and Warrior didnt seem to carry over any fatigue from his prior matchup. The two slugged it out for 40 minutes, but Dreamer managed to escape an attempted vertical suplex from Warrior, and landed a roundhouse right that dropped him cold. Dreamer gets the pinfall win (real event result: Dreamer won by pin)

911 PIN Jim Steele - 14 minutes of 911 man-handling Steele eneded with a chokeslam and a 911 pinfall victory (real event result: 911 won by pin in 34 seconds)

Beulah McGillicutty PIN Luna Vachon - In a shocking upset, McGillicutty came out on top in her ring debut. This looked to be a lock for ring vet Vachon, who seemed to underestimate her rookie opponent but Beulah came in prepared, and put up an impressive performance against Vachon for 40 minutes before scoring the pin after a "catfight" (real event result: Beulah won by pin in a few seconds after Stevie Richards hit Luna with a chair from behind)

The Pitbulls & Raven PIN 2 Cold Scorpio & The Tasmaniac (handicap tag match) - Taz and 2 Cold had a good handle on this one and looked to be on their way to taking the win, but a failed suplex attempt by Taz was countered by Raven, who hit a bulldog that stunned Taz long enough for Raven to get the pin at 14 minutes (real event result: Scorpio and Taz won buy pin)

Bad Breed PIN Public Enemy - An all out, blood shedding brawl from these four for 25 minutes that saw lots of chairs and tables but almost no official tags. Axl connected with a solid chair shot on Johnny Grunge and followed up with the pin (real event result: PE won by "forfeit" due to a technicality that Bad Breed was no longer permitted to be a team)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship: Cactus Jack (C) PIN The Sandman *barbed wire match - As expected, these two put on a great performance where the singapore cane figured in just as much as the barbed wire. There was blood, there were chairshots, there was plenty of action outside the ring, and when it was all said and done, a bloodied Cactus got the pin after a DDT/headbutt/double arm DDT trifecta put Sandman out for the count at 21 minutes (real event result: Sandman was the champion and won by "forfeit". Cactus has won when Sandman was KO'd but heres what happened, from Retroprowrestling.com :

"Bill Alfonso arrived on the scene and claimed that the rules stated the title couldn’t change hands in such a manner. Original referee, Jim Molineaux was livid, ripping off his zebra uniform and challenging Fonzy to a fight. As Cactus held Molyneux back, Sandman attacked his opponent from behind with the barbed wire. ... Sandman choked his rival with the barbed wire and tossed him off the ring. Alfonso then declared that Cactus Jack could no longer compete"

ENTER THE SANDMAN - FULL REPORT

May 13, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Tony Stetson PIN Hack Meyers - A decent matchup, standard opener. Stetson gets the pin with a sunset flip at 15 minutes (real event result: Meyers won by pin)

Tsubo Genjin & Hiroyoshi Iekuda DEF The Tazmaniac & 911 - The "Oriental Connection" pull off the upset, defeating their bigger and stronger opponents. The end came at 29 minutes when Iekuda hit the Tazmaniac with a lariat followed by the pin (real event result: Taz/911 won by pin very quickly)

Ian Rotten PIN Axl Rotten - the brothers face off...again, this time in a barbed wire bat & chair match. There wasn't much in this match that we haven't seen in any of their previous contests: lots of brawling and lots of blood thanks to the barbed wire. Ian landed a jab to Axls throat with the bat, and covered him for the pin at 14 minutes (real event result: Axl won by pin)

Raven & Stevie Richards DEF Tommy Dreamer & Mikey Whipwreck - Raven & Richards dominated this match with Whipwreck taking most of the beating. It was Dreamer however, that would fall victim to a full nelson by Richards that the latter would somehow turn into a back bridge pinning Dreamers shoulders for the three count at 31 minutes (real event result: Raven/Richards won by DQ when ref Bill Alfonso DQ'd Dreamer for using a closed fist)

ECW TV Title: Dean Malenko (C) SUB Eddie Guerrero - Guerrero gets another shot at the TV title, but it took just 8 minutes for the defending champ to lock in the figure-four leg lock and get the submission win (real event result: Guerrero was the defending champ and faced Malenko - the match ended in a time limit draw)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship: The Sandman PIN Cactus Jack (C) - After beating Sandman in two previous meetings, Cactus just couldn't get the edge this time. The two brawled steadily for 15 minutes before Sandman landed a sligshot facebuster and got the pin to regain the world title (real event result: Sandman won by pin, Shane Douglas interfered)

ECW TV Title: Dean Malenko (C) PIN Marty Jannetty - Malenko pulled double duty on the card as we once again see the former Rocker get a shot at an ECW belt. Malenko's superior skills were evident here, and he gets Jannetty with a leg lariat at 17 minutes and the pinfall win. (real event result: Eddie Guerrero was the defending champ and he won by pin)

ECW World Heavyweight Title: The Sandman (C) PIN Shane Douglas - The Sandman gets to make his first title defense barely half an hour after winning it. Former champ Shane Douglas, who was dominant in his title reign, came out strong and wanted to take advantage of any fatigue the champ may have been affected by from his earlier contest. Just as Douglas appeared to be ready to end things, Sandman countered an attempted suplex and hit Shane with a piledriver, followed by a stomp and a punch for good measure. He pins Douglas at 13 minutes to retain the belt (real event result: Sandman win by pin with Cactus Jack interfering)

ECW Tag Team Titles: Public Enemy DEF The Pitbulls (C) - The feud continues with a double dog collar match. These two teams have been battling it out for about a month now, and Public Enemy has only managed to win once, winning the titles and losing them back the next night. This 43 minutes long match was a brawl like the others, but PE would come out on top this time: Rocco Rock finished off Pitbull#2 with a senton onto a table and got the pin to regain the titles (real event result: PE were the defending champs and won by pinfall - Rock pin PB#2)

ARENA REPORT - PLENTY OF TITLE ACTION

The days following Hostile City Showdown were anything but slow, all three title holders kept busy in the ring and all three titles changed hands.

ECW TV title holder 2 Cold Scorpio made a successful defense against Dean Malenko again on April 28, but the very next night Malenko was able to regain the belt, pinning Scorpio to become a two time TV title holder.

Tag Team champs The Pitbulls and Public Enemy continued their feud, facing each other four times over nine nights. The defending champs came out on top on April 28 and 29, but on May 5 Public Enemy took the win to regain the belts. May 6 saw the title change hands once again as the Pitbulls took the win and the belts, now beating Public Enemy four of the last five matches.

ECW World Heavyweight Champion the Sandman had a short reign; he was beaten in his first title defense by Cactus Jack at the May 5 show. It was a good showing for Cactus who was coming off a tough loss to Terry Funk at Hostile City Showdown. The next night, Cactus would beat Sandman again to retain the title.

All three titles will be on the line heading into the "Enter The Sandman" event on May 13. Dean Malenko will face Eddie Guerrero, the Pitbulls will will meet Public Enemy...again, and Cactus Jack will will give the Sandman another shot to regain the world title belt.

HOSTILE CITY SHOWDOWN - FULL REPORT

April 15, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Stevie Richards PIN Mikey Whipwreck - Mikey just can't catch a break. Try as he might, he still remains without a victory in ECW despite putting up a solid effort every time out. Stevie Richards scored a pin at 24 minutes after knocking the wind of of Mikey with a bodyslam (real event result: Whipwreck won by pin)

Tony Stetson PIN Tsubo Genjin - Genjins ECW debut didn't turn out quite the way he'd have liked although he and Stetson did put up a good contest for the 23 minutes it lasted. Stetson ended things with a forearm smash at 23 minutes, Genjin tried to kick out but was a hair too late (real event result: Genjin won by pin)

Ian Rotten PIN Axl Rotten - Once again, the brothers square off in a barbed wire baseball bat match, and once again, Axl falls short (he's only beaten Ian once in five matches). After a gut shot with the bat and an eye rake, Ian wrapped him up for the pin (real event result: Axl won by pin)

Raven PIN Tommy Dreamer - Dreamer pulls double duty again in this event, as he's scheduled to defend the ECW world title later on. This was a great back and forth contest, with both guys landing some heavy shots both with fists and chairs. Beulah was at ringside with Raven but didn't interfere at all, despite having plenty of opportunities. Raven nails Dreamer with the Raven Effect at 35 minutes and gets the pin (real event result: Raven won by DQ)

ECW TV Title: 2 Cold Scorpio (C) PIN Dean Malenko - Scorpio put on a good show in his second title defense, never letting Malenko get the edge over him. After countering a suplex attempt by Malenko, Scorpio scores with a running somersault leg drop and gets the pin (real event result: Eddie Guerrero was the TV title holder and fought Malenko to a time limit draw)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship: The Sandman PIN Tommy Dreamer (C) - That first match really did Dreamer in. It took The Sandman just five minutes to stop the defending champ in his tracks with a DDT, getting the win and the world title (real event result: Shane Douglas was the defending champ, and lost by pin to the Sandman)

ECW Tag Team Titles: The Pitbulls (C) DEF Public Enemy - The Pitbulls won the belt just one night prior in a bar room brawl match over Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit, and got all they could handle from the former champs tonight. It was the match everyone expected: tables and chairs, inside and outside the ring, both sides of the guard rail, it was business as usual. Public Enemy took the early advantage, but The Pitbulls staged a strong comeback in the latter half of the contest. Pitbull #1 Gary Wolfe got Rocco Rock with a belly to belly suplex and pinned him at 41 minutes (real event result: Public Enemy were the defending champs against the Pitbulls, and won by pin)

Ron Simmons PIN 911 - Simmons comes out strong, avoiding 911's multiple choke slam attempts. It was a solid match up, but 911 tired before Simmons, who hits with the dominator and wins by pin in 22 minutes (real event result: 911 won by pin)

Terry Funk PIN Cactus Jack - Funk meets Jack officially this time, and the two brawl as only these two can. Blood shed is a given, and the barbed wire bat left over from the Axl/Ian match up comes into play. Both guys are busted open, and both look like they could take the fall any minute but its a simple arm lock that ends the contest. Terry Funk counters an Irish whip attempt, gets Jack in an arm lock and wraps him up for the three count at 23 minutes (real event result: Cactus won by pin)

THREE WAY DANCE - FULL REPORT

April 8, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

It was a night of solid, competitive match ups, we had no quick endings tonight.

Johnny Hotbody & Tony Stetson DEF The Pitbulls - The action stayed in the ring in tonights opener. The Pitbulls took a quick lead, hitting a slew of powermoves and it looked like they were going to just over power their opponents. Hotbody and Stetson managed to comeback, and with a series of quick tags and occasional double teaming, got the advantage. At 38 minutes, Stetson ducked under an attempted clothesline by Pitbull #1 and landed a throat thrust that dropped him at ring center. Stetson covered and got the three-count for the win (real event result: The Pitbulls won by pin)

Raven PIN Tommy Dreamer - It wasn't the kick-off Dreamer was hoping for, as he was set to defend the world title later in the event. As expected, these two brawled in and out of the ring, a few chair shots of course, with Raven hitting a drop toe hold on one of those chairs and getting the pin at 35 minutes (real event result: Raven won by pin after outside interference from Stevie Richards and Beulah *Beulahs debut)

Ron Simmons PIN Mikey Whipwreck - Mikey never disappoints, and he gave it his all in this one. When all was said and done however, it was the bigger and stronger Simmons that took the victory. A big powerslam at 27 minutes put Whipwreck down for the count (real event result: Whipwreck won by DQ after Simmons chokeslams the ref)

2 Cold Scorpio (C) PIN Eddie Guerrero - A great match up here; fast paced with alot of high spots. Scorpio hits a 450 splash at 23 minutes to pin Guerrero (real event result: Guerrero won by pin and won the title)

Axl Rotten PIN Ian Rotten (hair match) - As usual, these two went balls to the wall all over the arena. It would be easier to list what wasn't used as a weapon, as both of these guys were busted open and you couldn't tell who was bleeding more. Taking place more outside the ring than in, a chair shit stunned Ian enough for Axl to toss him back inside and hit a DDT, followed by a pin victory. Axl shaved Ians head and tossed the hair to ringside (real event result: Axl won by pin)

Hack Meyers PIN Dino Sandoff - This was more of a fistfight than a wrestling match, both guys landing haymakers and gut kicks with the occasional clothesline thrown in. Meyers got Sandoff cornered, landed a headbutt and followed up with a suplex, he hit the stomp for good measure and pinned Sandoff at 49 minutes (real event result: Meyers won by pin)

Tommy Dreamer (C) PIN The Sandman - Dreamer had better luck in his second match of the night. The new champ was making the first defense of the world title and did so in impressive fashion despite having lost an earlier contest. The Sandmans singapore cane came into play quite a few times in this one, with both guys getting their shots in. Dreamer would draw blood early on with a shot to the forehead, and took a number of strikes to the body in return. Dreamer wrapped things up at 45 minutes with an inverted atomic drop (real event result: Shane Douglas was the champ, and beat Sandman by pin)

Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko (C) DEF Public Enemy and The Tazmaniac & Rick Steiner (three way tag team dance) - This was as crazy as it sounds, and was a bit hard to keep track of. With all six men in and out of the ring, it was tough to see all the action but in any case, it was entertaining whatever angle you were watching from. Taz and Steiner were eliminated first about 25 minutes in, when Malenko was able to pin Steiner after scoring with a double underhook suplex. About 25 minutes later, Malenko landed a side suplex on Rocco after Benoit hit him with a diving headbutt. After 51 minutes, Benoit and Malenko retain the tag team titles scoring pins over both of their opponents (real event result: Taz/Steiner were eliminated first by Malenko/Benoit, then Public Enemy won by pin and won the titles)

ARENA SHOWS - TWO MORE WORLD TITLE CHANGES!

Two more of the ECW world title belts changed hands these past few weeks. Ater seeing the tag team belts ownwership change at "Return of the Funker", both the world heavyweight and TV titles saw new holders twice each at local arena events.

On March third, Dean Malenko successfully defended the TV title aganst 2 Cold Scorpio, only to drop the belt to the former tag team champ, the Tazmaniac just two weeks later in Flagstaff, PA on March 17th. The Tazmaniac in turn, would lose the belt the very next night in Philadelphia to 2 Cold Scorpio who is now a two-time TV title holder.

The reign of Shane Douglas seemed like it would last forever. The dominant ECW heavyweight champ was 13-0 before suffering his first defeat in Philly to Tully Blanchard. Blanchard was getting his third shot at Douglas and made good this time out, submitting the defending champ in just a minute, locking in the abdominal stretch and getting the submission victory. Unfortunately for Blanchard however, his run was short lived; he fell victim to Tommy Dreamer and the Dreamer DDT two weeks later at the Flagstaff show.

ECW's next event will take place on April 8, where all three belts will be on the line. The event, titles "Three Way Dance" will see Tommy Dreamer make his first heavyweight title defense against the Sandman, Scorpio will face Eddie Guerrero for the TV title, and the tag team belts will be up for grabs in a tag team three-way-dance; Benoit & Malenko will defend against the Public Enemy and the team of Tazmaniac and Rick Steiner.

RETURN OF THE FUNKER - FULL REPORT

February 25, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Chad Austin & Joel Hartgood DEF The Pitbulls - How the hell this happened is anyones guess, but give credit where it's due. Austin was quicker and more agile than the Pitbulls expected, and he managed to bounce back quickly from the Pitbulls power moves and get some shots in of his own. Hartgood didn't do much in this contest, but he had his moments. At 25 minutes in, Austin was able to reverse a hold attempt from Pitbull #1 and managed to score a power bomb, stunning his opponent long enough for get the three count (real event result: The Pitbulls won by pin)

Jason Knight & Paul Lauria DEF Hack Meyers & Mikey Whipwreck - What a great match up. Both teams took turns laying the smack down on each other with neither ever having a clear advantage or appearing in danger of losing. This back and forth battle went on for nearly an hour until "The Giant" Paul Lauria connected with a cross body block that took Whipwreck to the canvas, he hooked the leg and got the pin (real event result: Knight & Lauria won by pin)

Hector Guerrero SUB 2 Cold Scorpio - Wow. It took Guerrero just two minutes to secure the crucifix on Scorpio, who tapped out right away. Big win for Guerrero (real event result: Scorpio won by pin)

Ian Rotten PIN Axl Rotten *barbed wire baseball bat match - Two battling brothers and a barbed wire bat, what more could you ask for? As usual, these two shed blood, and took turns beating the crap out of each other all over the arena. Once again, Ian was the better of the pair and scored his second win over Axl this month. After a shot to the gut with bat, he jabbed Axl in the throat with the bat and got the pin (real event result: Axl won by pin)

Shane Douglas (C) PIN Marty Jannetty - The Shane Douglas express keeps on rolling. The defending ECW world champ had little trouble with the former "Rocker", and layed Jannetty out with a belly to belly suplex at seven minutes for the pin (real event result: Douglas won by pin)

Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko DEF Sabu & The Tazmaniac (C) - Sabu and Taz came out strong in this one, and it looked like it was going to be an early night for the defending champs. After suffering a pair of upset losses in January the two looked intent on keeping the titles and making a statement along the way. Despite taking full control of the match early on, Benoit and Malenko were able to slowly work their way back into the contest and get the upper hand. Dean Malenko hit a top rope gut buster on Sabu at the 25 minute mark and a pinfall followed. We have new tag team champions! Malenko now holds both the tag team and TV titles (real event result: Benoit and Malenko won when Benoit pinned Sabu)

Cactus Jack PIN DC Drake - Cactus was supposed to wrestle Sandman, but Sandman claimed injury and instead came to ringside with Woman and a box that held a mystery opponent. That opponent was DC Drake. Drake should've stayed in the box because he got creamed. Cactus did what he does best, and brought the pain to Drake for a 17 minute stretch before finishing him off with a running senton to the concrete (real event result: Cactus won by pin)

*(from the real event) Following the match, Cactus was attacked by The Sandman and then by Terry Funk who was hiding inside the box at ringside. Tommy Dreamer came to the ring to help Cactus, but was attacked by the Sandman. Shane Douglas then came to the ring and Woman tried to convince him to join with her, Funk and Sandman. It looked like Douglas was going this way, and as he set up to hit Cactus with the ECW title belt, he instead hit Funk and the Sandman. Terry Funk is back in ECW, hence the event name.

DOUBLE TABLES - FULL REPORT

February 4, 1995 - ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Six Man Tag - Jason the Terrible & The Pitbulls DEF Hack Meyers & The Young Dragons - It was a rough 17 minutes for the newest members of ECW, as the Young Dragons took a pretty solid beating at the hands of Jason the Terrible and the Pitbulls. Hack Meyers held his own, but he could only do so much to carry the Dragons and a painful headbutt from Pitbull #2 put Young Dragon #2 out cold on the canvas and pinned at 17 minutes. (real event result: Jason and The Pitbulls won by pinfall)

Stevie Richards PIN Tommy Dreamer - Richards made quick and easy work of Dreamer, hitting him with the "Stevie T" at just four minutes and scoring the pinfall (real event result: Dreamer won by pin)

"The Giant" Paul Lauria PIN Mikey Whipwreck - These two put on a solid, fast paced match for as long as it lasted. Lauria wrapped things up in nine minutes with a firemans carry, and was able to roll up Mikey for the pin (real event result: Whipwreck won by pin)

Ian Rotten PIN Axl Rotten - The former "Bad Breed" brothers duked it out for 17 minutes; chairs were swung and blood was splattered. Ian gave his brother a swift kick to the midsection...maybe a bit lower, and got the three count (real event result: Ian Rotten won by pin)

Chris Benoit PIN Al Snow - A close contest throughout, but Benoit's diving headbutt once again came in handy and put Snow out of commission long enough to get pinned at 27 minutes (real event result: Benoit won by pin)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship

Shane Douglas (C) PIN Tully Blanchard - Tully Blanchard must've taken a few notes since his previous meeting with reigning champion Shane Douglas, as this contest was far more competitive than the pairs matchup just one month ago. Blanchard gave the champ the toughest fight he's seen since his world title win last year. He came out fast, and locked on the abdominal stretch just one minute in, but couldn't get Shane to give up. He managed to get the hold on two more times as well, and although he couldnt end the match either time, the effects were showing on Douglas, who looked ripe for the picking before making a stunning comeback. The champion rallied, and hit a belly to belly suplex on Blanchard, before scoring the pin and retaining his world title as well as keeing his undefeated record in tact. (real event result: Douglas won by pin)

Texas Death Match

The Sandman PIN Cactus Jack - These two fought all over the place; chairs, cane shots, guard rails, it was all fair game as they beat each other from pillar to post much to the delight of the crowd, many of whom were nearly part of the match as the match made it's way into the seating areas more than once. Eventually the action made it back into the ring, and at 17 minutes The Sandman hit Jack with a top rope Frankensteiner, setting him up for the pin (real event result: Cactus Jack won by pin)

ECW Tag Team Titles - Double Tables Match

Sabu & The Tazmaniac DEF Death Row & "Mr. President" Joe DeFuria (C) - The dream came to end for the defending champs, but they didn't go down without a fight, showing the fans that thier previous two victories over Sabu & Taz weren't just luck. These two teams went at it for a total of 79 minutes and even though the challengers had the edge for the majority of the match, putting away Death Row and DeFuria proved to be anything but easy. A man, or men, can only take so much though. Sabu was able to get both DeFuria and Death Row both through tables to win the contest and regain the ECW tag team titles (real event result: Public Enemy were the defending champs, and were beaten by Sabu & Taz)

ARENA REPORT - January 1995

As ECW gears up for its February "Double Tables" event, the title holders have kept busy in the opening weeks of 1995. ECW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas successfully defended his belt three times in a four weeks span, beating former Four Horsemen member Tully Blanchard, Ron Simmons, and Mikey Whipwreck. Blanchard will get another shot, as he's slated to face Douglas again at the "Double Tables" show on February 4th.

MAJOR upset in the tag team division! New comers Death Row and "Mr. President" Joe DeFuria teamed up to beat the reigning tag team champs, Sabu and The Tazmaniac to win the titles. If you're thinking this was beginners luck, guess again. Death Row and DeFuria defeated Sabu and The Tazmaniac for a second time just two days after their initial meeting and then went on to successfully defend the belts against Hack Meyers and J.T. Smith with relative ease. Sabu and The Tazmaniac will get another opportunity to regain the title belts at "Double Tables" in...you guessed it, a Double Tables match where one team must put both members of their opposition through tables to win the match.

HOLIDAY HELL - FULL REPORT

December 17, 1994, ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Stevie Richards PIN J.T.Smith - A back and forth contest that saw Richards end the contest with a clothesline and pin at 16 minutes (real event result: Richards won by pinfall)

ECW World Television Title

Dean Malenko (C) PIN Surfer Ray Odyssey - Malenkos first defense of the TV title wasnt easy. Surfer Ray gave him all he could handle for over half an hour, until the defending champ hit a kneebreaker and scored a pin at 42 minutes (real event result: Malenko beat Odyssey by submission)

Chris Benoit SUB Hack Meyers - it only took nine minutes for Benoit to get a hold of Meyers; once he locked in the sharpshooter, that was all she wrote (real event result: Benoit defeated Meyers by ref stoppage/TKO)

The Pitbulls PIN 911 (handicap match) - as expected, 911 handled himself well in this 2-on-1 contest, and it looked like he had things going his way until Pitbull #2 connected with a spinning heel kick. 911 just couldn't get to his feet after that, and was pinned at 19 minutes (real event result: 911 pinned both of the Pitbulls)

Devious Don E. Allen PIN Mikey Whipwreck - a quick paced and pretty even match up here. Allen pins Whipwreck at 24 minutes after injuring Mikey with a hammerlock (real event result: Whipwreck won by pinfall)

Ironman Tommy Cairo & The Sandman PIN Cactus Jack & Tommy Dreamer - these four put on a match exactly like you'd expect: in the ring, out of the ring, in the stands, nothing was off limits. The Sandman pinned Tommy Dreamer at 34 minutes, ending the match with a slingshot face buster (real event result: Sandman pinned Cactus Jack)

ECW World Heavyweight Championship

Shane Douglas (C) PIN Ron Simmons - Simmons got the rematch he wanted, but the result wasn't any different than last time. Despite his solid efforts, Simmons was pinned at 17 minutes after Douglas hit a belly to belly suplex. Douglas is still the champ! (real event result: Douglas pinned Simmons)

ECW World Tag Team Titles

Sabu & The Tazmaniac PIN Cactus Jack & Kevin Sullivan (C) - A great contest that saw the challengers get off to a solid and commanding start. It looked like it was going to be a quick contest, but the defending champs came back strong. Both teams saw guys hit the concrete, go through tables, and take vicious chair shots. Despite their efforts however, the champs just couldn't do enough to pull this one out, and at 47 minutes, Sabu connected with a dropkick to the legs of Kevin Sullivan and scored the pinfall. Sabu and The Tazmaniac are the new tag team champs! (real event result: Public Enemy were the defending champs, and won when Rocco Roc pinned Taz)

Hardcore TV Updates - November 1994

*dates refer to the television airing, not the actual match date

2 Cold Scorpio had a busy month, both winning and losing the ECW television title in a short time span. Scorpio beat Jason Knight to win the belt in a close, 36 minute long contest on November 22, then he was defeated by Dean Malenko, dropping the title in another near-half hour long match just seven days later.

Cactus Jack is once again a tag team champion. On November 29 he teamed up with Kevin Sullivan to defeat Public Enemy and regain the title he lost to PE at the November to Remember event when he was teaming with Mikey Whipwreck.

Shane Douglas successfully defended the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, beating Jim Powers by pinfall on November 22. He'll be defending the belt against Ron Simmons at Holiday Hell in December.

NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER - FULL RESULTS

November 5, 1994, ECW Arena Philadelphia, PA

Hack Meyers PIN J.T. Smith - Meyers hit Smith with the "stomp" before pinning him at the 11 minute mark in a relatively even and moderatley paced match up. (real event result: JT Smith wins by pin)

Bad Breed (Axl & Ian Rotten) PIN The Pitbulls - Bad Breed made the job quick and easy, it only took two minutes for Axl to hit a DDT on Pitbull #1 and score a pinfall win. (real event result: Pibulls win by pin, the match is 3 minutes loing)

2 Cold Scorpio PIN Mr. Hughes - Scorpio puts on a great performance and pins Hughes at the 8 minute mark after hitting a vertical suplex. (real event result: 2 Cold Scorpio wins by pin)

Ironman Tommy Cairo PIN Tommy Dreamer - These two fought in the ring, out of the ring, chair shots, Singapore cane shots, blood...it was nearly half an hour before Cairo finally hit a belly to belly suplex and pins Dreamer at 26 minutes. (real event result: Dreamer wins by ref stoppage/KO)

The Tazmaniac SUB Dean Malenko - at 21 minutes the Tazmaniac locked in the "tazmission", Malenko taps out. (real event result: Malenko wins by KO) *some sites list this at a TV title match, which it wasn't.

ECW World Heavyweight Championship

Shane Douglas (C) PIN Ron Simmons - Douglas successfully defends his title for the second time in a much quicker match than many anticipated. A belly to belly supex set up Simmons for the pin at just four minutes in. Douglas retains the title. (real event result: Douglas was the Champ and wins by pin)

ECW World Tag Team Titles

The Public Enemy PIN Cactus Jack & Mikey Whipwreck (C) - This was as lopsided as a match can get, as The Public Enemy laid a plain old extreme fashion beating on the defending champs in this "brawl game" match, beating them from pillar to post for over an hour. How this match lasted so long is anyones guess, but Rocco Rock was finally able to wrap it up at 72 minutes after hitting the "drive by" on Whipwreck and scoring the pin. Public Enemy are the NEW champs! (real event result: Jack & Mikey were the champs and Public Enemy wins by pin)

Chris Benoit PIN Sabu - this was a close and competitve match as everyone expected, but at 18 minutes, Benoit connected with a diving headbutt and wins by pinfall. (real event result: ends in a no contest when Sabu landed outside the ring on his head and broke his neck)

*After the match, we end up with numerous members of the locker room coming to the arena and a number of brawls breakout. When the dust finally settled, Benoit grabbed the mic and made a comment about Sabu not being able to fight his own battles. 2 Cold Scorpio came to the ring and the two go at it, so they both got to wrestle twice tonight.

2 Cold Scorpio PIN Chris Benoit - Scorpio goes 2 for 2 at the event, picking up his second win of the night at nine minutes. A running somersault leg drop gets the job done and Benoit in pinned. (real event result: this impromptu match ended in a double count out, no winner)

*October 1994* Douglas successful in first defense, Jason Knight is on roll too.

ECW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas successfully defended his crown on September 20, defeating Osamu Nishimura at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA. It only took the champ 12 minutes to wrap things up, a vertical suplex put Nishimura down and out for the pin.

ECW World Television title holder Jason Knight has also looked impressive, running off five straight wins in four weeks time to retain his belt. See the RESULTS page for details.

Up next for the promotion is the November to Remember event on November 5th, at the ECW Arena. A nine match card will feature champion Shane Douglas, tag team champs Cactus Jack and Mikey Whipwreck, Tommy Dreamer and The Pitbulls to name a few.

A NEW ERA IS BORN!

August 27, 1994 - The NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament turned out to be everything it was meant to be, and more. Not only were we given a new chamnpion, but a new promotion altogether.

Of the eight competitors taking the ring that night, Shane Douglas came out on top, beating The Tazmaniac, Dean Malenko, and in the final match, 2 Cold Scorpio, to be crowned the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion. After receiving the belt however, Douglas has a few choice words to deliver; in a nutshell, he tossed the NWA belt aside, declared the organization dead, and declared himself the ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) World Champion. So out with the old and in with the new, ECW is born.

Also on the card, Cactus Jack and Mikey Whipwreck defeated The Public Enemy to win the ECW World Tag Team titles.

Full card results can be viewed on the EVENTS & RESULTS page.

THE NEW ECW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION

*the true life result was the same, Douglas won the tournament and discarded the NWA belt. The tag team match result was also the same.
